ADN Madeira Youth has expressed "deep concern" following an alleged incident of "humiliation, isolation, and intimidation" against a student during the academic praxes at the University of Madeira (UMa).
According to the party structure, the student was left "emotionally fragile and crying." They stated that "no academic tradition can serve as a pretext to humiliate, exclude, intimidate, or exert psychological pressure" on students, advocating for praxes to be "voluntary, inclusive, and respectful of individual dignity."
The organization highlighted the seriousness of the event occurring during "Yellow September," a month dedicated to mental health awareness. They called for a "swift, rigorous, and impartial investigation of the facts," protection for the student, psychological support, a secure channel for reporting abuses, and disciplinary accountability for those involved if acts of humiliation are proven.
