The Socialist Party (PS) accuses the Funchal Municipal Council of "delaying" decisions and solutions for the city's problems, citing the Municipal Police and mobility as examples.
Gonçalo Aguiar, representing councilor Rui Caetano, expressed this frustration after a public meeting, highlighting that the Municipal Police process "has been dragging on for years." The PS criticized the PSD's stance, which previously linked the Municipal Police to "fine hunting" but now recognizes its importance.
The party advocates for the creation of the Municipal Police to proceed, even with limited powers, arguing that any delay further postpones Funchal's progress. Mobility issues, such as motorcycles parked on sidewalks, were also identified as persistent problems.
