Emanuel Câmara, a PS-Madeira Member of Parliament to the Assembly of the Republic, criticized the ongoing failures in the operationalization of the Territorial Continuity Mechanism. According to the MP, these constraints demonstrate the Republic's Government's inability and bad faith in resolving an issue that directly affects Madeira's inhabitants and compromises a constitutional right.
Câmara also stated that the Regional Government and PSD-M MPs did not adequately defend the interests of Madeirans. He cited payment delays, issues with Ryanair tickets, suspension of one-way travel pairing, and problems with student enrollment certificate submissions as examples of identified failures.
The socialist MP accused Luís Montenegro's Government of attempting to "whitewash" the already approved law, allowing problems to persist and complicate daily life for residents of Madeira and Porto Santo. "We are facing an inability or bad faith from the Republic's Government to resolve constraints that have been clearly identified for some time," he concluded.
