The Regional Directorate for Spatial Planning (DROTe) has clarified that the georeferencing service through the Single Land Registry Office (BUPi) will remain free in the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
This assurance follows news regarding the end of the current national free scheme, scheduled for September 30, 2026. The georeferencing process is considered crucial for understanding the territory, property security, and land management in Madeira.
In Madeira, the implementation of the Simplified Cadastral Information System began in March 2024, covering five municipalities. The Regional Government aims to maintain the momentum achieved by ensuring the continued free georeferencing service at BUPi-RAM offices, preventing financial barriers for property owners.
