The PS-M parliamentary group will submit a request for information to the Regional Secretariat for Education, Science and Technology in the Legislative Assembly of Madeira. The request focuses on the needs for teaching staff for the 2026/2027 academic year, questioning placements and hirings, existing shortages in schools, and planning for the next five years.
The socialists want to know how many teaching positions remain unfilled, how many teachers were not placed, and the impact of the Secretariat's decisions on school operations. The party points to contradictions between the Secretariat's statements that needs are met and reports from schools and teachers about difficulties and teacher shortages.
PS-M also questions the situation of tenured teachers without placement and changes in preschool education, particularly team organization and the number of educators. They also seek clarification on whether the coverage of teaching needs resulted from new hires, extraordinary services, or reallocation of hours from other projects, and the impact of these choices on student support.
