PSD and PS Demand Resolution of Air Travel Support Scheme Issues

Madeira's PSD and PS parties have urged the national government to address issues with the air travel support scheme, citing platform failures, excessive bureaucracy, and upfront costs for residents. PSD MP Paulo Neves specifically called for the correction of faults affecting the electronic MCT (Territorial Continuity Mechanism) platform.

Neves stated that the platform should function perfectly and be updated to comply with new rules approved by Parliament, describing the current problems as unacceptable. He called for simplification and improvement of the process that directly impacts passengers.

PS-Madeira president Célia Pessegueiro also called for the implementation of the legal framework, which stipulates fares of €79 for residents and €59 for students. She criticized the requirement for passengers to pay the full airfare upfront and accused the government of failing to comply with legislation enacted in June.
