The PSD Parliamentary Group visited the Convent of Santa Clara to reaffirm the Regional Government's commitment to preserving Madeira's cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible.
Deputy Valter Correia mentioned recent investments, such as the intervention on the ceilings of the Sé Church and the requalification of the Convent of Santa Clara. He also announced the continuation of works at São Filipe Fort, which will become the future Museum of Archaeology of Madeira, and at Quinta do Monte, which will house the Museum of Romanticism, with an investment exceeding four million euros. The launch of the tender for the conservation of the Colégio Church was also highlighted.
The Executive's strategy includes support for cultural associations dedicated to research and dissemination of Madeiran traditions, as well as measures to bring heritage closer to the population. This includes the decentralization of cultural initiatives across municipalities and the offering of 52 annual free entries to museums, monuments, and cultural centers overseen by the Region, aiming for greater inclusion for families with economic difficulties. Valter Correia assured a "consistent and visible effort" by the Regional Government, emphasizing the "clear commitment to preserving our cultural heritage."
