PSD deputy Carlos Fernandes has presented a protest vote in the Madeira Legislative Assembly concerning the delayed release of political prisoners in Venezuela. Fernandes stated that over 300 political prisoners remain detained, with most unaware of their convictions.
He acknowledged the significant role played by the regional parliament and Portuguese diplomatic authorities in freeing some prisoners, including seven of Portuguese descent. However, he raised concerns about those still imprisoned by the Venezuelan regime, mentioning Colonel Juan Francisco dos Ramos and businessman Fernando Venâncio as examples.
