The PSD/Madeira Parliamentary Group visited Casa Esperança, the first day and night center in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, managed by the Garouta do Calhau Association. The initiative aims to highlight the Regional Government's investment in creating new social responses focused on the needs of the elderly population.
Bina Pereira, a social-democrat deputy, emphasized the importance of this new social response, which allows the elderly to remain in their homes with support, activities, and increased safety, both day and night. The deputy highlighted that this is an innovative response offering families more choices and enabling the elderly to stay in their homes with added support and security.
Pereira also stressed the role of families and the importance of creating alternatives to residential care, recognizing that not all elderly individuals wish or need to leave their usual environment. The PSD believes that these types of responses are an important path to meeting the new needs of the population, allowing for greater diversity in social offerings.
