The Public Security Police (PSP) were called to intervene in Funchal on Tuesday after a man left the São João de Deus Health Centre.
Officers were alerted to a disturbance near the Olimpo Shopping Centre and located the individual near Santa Catarina Park. It was discovered that a warrant for compulsory hospitalisation had already been issued.
According to PSP sub-intendent José Catanho, the warrant was executed, and the man was transported to the appropriate medical facility. The PSP confirmed the situation was resolved without further incident.
