The consumer association explains that products with active substance concentrations between 10% and 35% generally offer effective and long-lasting protection for adults. The ideal choice should consider the exposure risk and the required protection time, rather than focusing solely on the percentage.
Factors such as temperature, humidity, physical activity, perspiration, water exposure, and even skin type can reduce protection duration, requiring reapplication. A moderately concentrated repellent may be as effective as a highly concentrated one in urban or moderate exposure situations, avoiding unnecessary exposure to higher active substance amounts.
