Rádio Praia, the sole media outlet based in Porto Santo, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this Thursday, August 27. To mark the occasion, a special "outside broadcast" will take place in the center of Vila Baleira, near Baiana and the Municipal Chamber.
The broadcast, also aired on TSF-Madeira, will focus on the island's past, present, and future. The radio station will share the timeline of Porto Santo's transformation and look ahead to new times, featuring 25 invited guests from the island.
The programming is divided into two segments: the first, from 10 am to 1 pm, will cover the history of Rádio Praia, Porto Santo's development, and significant news from the last quarter-century. The second segment, from 3 pm to 6 pm, will feature "children of Praia" discussing the communication phenomenon, the impact of social media, information habits, and the significance of having a local radio station on the island. A top 25 music list highlighting events in Porto Santo between 2001 and 2026 will also be featured, along with a collective portrait of the society that listens to Rádio Praia.
