The Regional Government will provide €68,000 in financial support to SANAS Madeira, the Madeiran association for sea rescue, to ensure the operation of the Coastal Rescue Station Network (RESCO).
The support was formalised with the signing of a programme contract between the Regional Secretariat for Health and Civil Protection and the association, at a ceremony presided over by regional secretary Micaela Fonseca de Freitas. The agreement aims to keep the coastal surveillance, rescue and lifesaving activities running along the Region's shores as part of the regional civil protection system.
During the ceremony, the secretary highlighted SANAS Madeira's role in rescue operations. Frederico Rezende, chairman of the association's board, welcomed the continued collaboration and the association's integration into the regional civil protection system.
The contract takes effect on the date of signature and remains valid until 31 December 2026.
