Regional Government Carries Out Vegetation Clearing and Forest Road Improvements

The Regional Government is undertaking vegetation clearing and forest road network improvements across the region, focusing on fire prevention measures.

The Regional Government has commenced vegetation clearing and forest road network improvement works in the Chão das Aboboreiras area, on the road connecting Poiso to Santo da Serra.

Regional Government President Miguel Albuquerque will visit the site to observe the ongoing interventions, which aim to enhance structural fire prevention by rehabilitating road infrastructure and planning strategic fuel break areas.

The project covers approximately 7.5 kilometers of forest paths, averaging 10 meters in width. These paths will serve as access routes for firefighting and as firebreaks to limit fire spread. It also includes the creation of a buffer zone of about 20 hectares, where grazing will be used for sustainable maintenance, controlling undergrowth.
