This news sparked social media comments, with one reader questioning if the promised amount wasn't 1,200 euros. In response, it was clarified that this target would be reached "throughout the legislative term," with the PSD and CDS stating they had been "extremely clear about this."
An analysis of the March 2025 election campaign shows that PSD posters featured "REGIONAL MINIMUM WAGE 1,200 €" without any associated date. Party social media posts also mentioned the goal of reaching 1,200 euros but without specifying a deadline. In a previous campaign in May 2024, the PSD had linked an increase to 1,150 euros to a specific deadline, "by 2028."
The newspaper DIÁRIO itself, in a post-election fact-check, noted the absence of a deadline on the posters, inferring that the goal would be met during the 2025-2029 legislative term. Subsequently, after the elections, the end of the legislative term, 2029, began to be explicitly linked to the 1,200 euro promise.
