Two people suffered minor injuries when a hire car crashed beneath the bridge near Madeira International Airport on the morning of September 26th.
The occupants, a man and a woman both in their 20s, sustained abrasions and showed signs of distress, according to Santa Cruz Firefighters. An ambulance and a rescue vehicle attended the scene.
The car reportedly crashed while travelling in the wrong direction. Traffic heading towards Santa Cruz was diverted onto the expressway while emergency crews worked at the scene.
