The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, sent a video message to the solemn session celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Legislative Assembly of Madeira. In her address, Metsola highlighted the Region's journey over the past five decades and thanked them for the invitation to the commemorations.
Metsola praised the "pride, resilience, and strength" of the people of Madeira and Porto Santo, emphasizing how the Region has leveraged the opportunities of European integration for its development. She also assured that the European Parliament will continue to support Madeira and defend the interests of island regions.
"Thank you for continuing to honour Europe," concluded the President of the European Parliament, in a message received with applause.
