Santa Clara Social Complex Opens with 115 Places for the Elderly

The Autonomous Region of Madeira will have 115 new places to support its elderly population starting Monday, with the opening of the Santa Clara Social Complex.

This development, an investment of 13.3 million euros funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), is considered one of the most ambitious social projects ever undertaken on the island. The complex, owned by the Santa Casa da Misericórdia do Funchal, features a Residential Structure for the Elderly (ERPI), a Day Centre, assisted living residences, and a physical rehabilitation clinic.

Of the 115 available places, 65 are new in the residential structure, 20 come from the renovation of existing places, and 30 are for the Day Centre. The main building has 51 rooms, a chapel, a multi-purpose room, medical and social support offices, an industrial kitchen, and a dining room. The rehabilitation clinic includes a gym, a hydro-rehabilitation pool, and five T1 apartments.
