The Santa Cruz Parish Council has announced it will undertake repairs and improvements on five footpaths within the parish. Work is expected to commence during the second half of October.
The footpaths slated for intervention include Vereda da Levada da Roda, Vereda do Estreito, Vereda da Fazenda, Vereda da 1.ª Travessa da Calçada, and Vereda da Levada dos Moinhos. The focus will be on enhancing pavements, repairing supporting walls, and restoring steps to improve accessibility, particularly for individuals with reduced mobility and the elderly.
Areas where irrigation channels cross the footpaths will also be addressed to ensure better circulation without compromising structures vital for farmers. The Parish Council reiterated its commitment to being close to the people and carrying out necessary work.
