São Gonçalo Parish Council promotes cultural visit to craft exhibition

The São Gonçalo Parish Council organized a visit to the exhibition 'Portuguese Craft Production, the Current State of Ancestral Know-How' at the Funchal Cultural and Research Centre.

The initiative brought together more than 30 participants, who had the opportunity to explore a display dedicated to valuing Portuguese artisanal heritage, highlighting the richness and authenticity of traditional knowledge. The exhibition, featuring pieces of Madeira Embroidery, wickerwork, and traditional string instruments, aims to showcase craftsmanship's contribution to preserving cultural identity and passing on a legacy to future generations.

According to Parish Council President Tiago Freitas, culture is an essential tool for personal development and social cohesion, and these initiatives allow people to engage with culturally valuable activities during holidays, combating isolation and promoting active aging.
