Section of Praia Formosa–Socorridos Seaside Promenade Closed Preventively

A section of the Praia Formosa–Socorridos seaside promenade has been preventively closed due to signs of pavement subsidence.

The Development Societies announced the preventive closure of Section 3 of the Praia Formosa–Socorridos seaside promenade, near Cimentos Madeira. The decision was made in coordination with Civil Protection and the Maritime Police, following signs of pavement subsidence, aiming to safeguard user safety.

A technical assessment conducted with the Regional Laboratory of Civil Engineering (LREC) allowed for a deeper understanding of the structural condition. The Development Societies have already contacted specialized companies for the immediate reinforcement of the deck, with an estimated duration of three weeks, to mitigate risks and enable a safe reopening.

This temporary intervention is part of a broader strategy that includes a second phase of deep rehabilitation, with an estimated investment of 3.3 million euros, and a third phase to enhance remaining areas, ensuring an integrated intervention across the entire promenade.
