The Sem Limites Association – Portuguese Association of People with Special Needs (APPNE) has expressed concern in a statement regarding delays in issuing the Multipurpose Disability Medical Certificate.
The association notes that this situation "continues to severely affect people with disabilities and people with reduced mobility across the country," receiving complaints from members who have been waiting over six months for a medical assessment.
APPNE deems this delay unacceptable, as it hinders timely access to fundamental rights such as social support, tax benefits, and parking, compromising citizens' autonomy and social inclusion. The association calls for urgent measures to strengthen the capacity for conducting medical assessments.
