The Portuguese Institute for the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) has warned that Storm Bruna will bring periods of persistent and sometimes heavy rain, strong winds and worsening sea conditions to Madeira this weekend, 7 and 8 November.
The most critical period for rainfall is expected between late Saturday afternoon and early Sunday morning, when more intense showers and possible thunderstorms may occur. Winds from the south are forecast to reach gusts of 100 km/h in low-lying areas and 130 km/h in the highlands.
On the south coast, waves of 3.5 to 4.5 metres are predicted between Sunday afternoon and early Monday. IPMA has issued orange and yellow warnings for rain, wind and sea conditions and advises residents to follow updates.
