Heavy rain and considerable surface water on the Desertas Islands are linked to the passage of depression Bruna, according to images shared by Miguel Castro, a non-attached member of the Madeira Regional Legislative Assembly.
In a social media post, Castro voiced concern that the Vigilantes da Natureza, the nature wardens, had not been withdrawn from the islands before the storm arrived. He said the safety of people should come first.
The footage shows intense rainfall and water running off the island, amid adverse weather affecting the archipelago.
