Storm causes floods, cancels flights, and closes schools in Valencia

Torrential rains in Valencia caused floods, cancelled flights, closed schools, and left one person missing.

Torrential rains hit the province of Valencia on Wednesday afternoon, leading to widespread flooding, transport disruptions, and the closure of the airport. Local authorities have confirmed at least one person is missing.

The Generalitat Valenciana activated the Special Flood Plan and issued an emergency alert. In Torrent, nearly 96 liters of rain per square meter were recorded in just a few hours. Valencia Airport was closed with flights diverted, and rail and metro services were affected. Schools in several provinces suspended classes on Thursday.
