Air travel between Madeira and mainland Portugal for university students is costing close to 500 euros for the initial period of the academic year. A reader of DIÁRIO reported not finding flights for less than 400 euros for the departure of higher education students.
A check by DIÁRIO with three airlines operating direct flights from Funchal to Lisbon and Porto confirmed these values. Simulations with departure dates on September 4th and return on December 19th, including luggage, revealed prices between 494.15 euros and 611.23 euros.
The cheapest option found was with TAP, to Lisbon, costing 494.15 euros. For Porto, prices are even higher, with TAP presenting a total of 515.37 euros for the same simulation of dates and luggage.
