The second edition of the Summer Medical School will be held in Madeira starting July 6th, bringing together 42 children and young people aged 6 to 14. The initiative, promoted by NOVA Medical School in partnership with the Regional Secretariat for Education, Science and Technology and the Regional Directorate of Health, aims to promote health literacy.
The program, taking place at the Madeira Hotel and Tourism School, includes workshops on healthy cooking, mental health, first aid, scientific experiments, and nutrition consultations. The number of participants has doubled compared to last year, with support from various public and private entities.
Mariana Nóbrega, coordinator of Community Service at NOVA Medical School, emphasized the importance of new approaches in health communication to empower individuals and build a society with higher health literacy. This year's edition includes scholarships for children and young people in vulnerable situations, reinforcing the project's social aspect.
