The Port of Funchal is welcoming two cruise ships this weekend, the Celebrity Xcel and the Norwegian Viva, which together are carrying 8,975 people, including passengers and crew.
The Celebrity Xcel, with 4,638 people on board (3,202 passengers and 1,436 crew), arrived from Lisbon on Saturday and will stay until Sunday, departing for Tangier. The ship is on an 11-night Mediterranean and Atlantic voyage.
On Sunday morning, the Celebrity Xcel will be joined by the Norwegian Viva, arriving at 6 AM from Spain with 4,337 people (2,884 passengers and 1,453 crew). This vessel is on a repositioning journey to Galveston, USA, with subsequent stops in the Caribbean.
