The Ambassador of the United States of America to Portugal, John Joseph Arrigo, met with the President of the Regional Government of Madeira this Wednesday.
Recalling the September 11, 2001 attacks, Arrigo stated that the US "does not yield, does not break, and never forgets," emphasizing American resilience and the memory of the victims.
Regarding his visit to the island, the diplomat highlighted the goal of strengthening economic and political alignment, but also praised Madeira, calling it "fantastic" and "phenomenal," and advocated for greater promotion of the island to more Americans. He estimated that between 500 and 800 American families or citizens live in Madeira.
