The cruise ship 'Ventura' marked the start of the 2026/2027 season in Madeira, docking in Funchal on Wednesday.
The P&O vessel, which was also the last to visit the island in the previous season, stayed for 11 hours, carrying a total of 4,246 individuals, comprising 3,076 passengers and 1,170 crew members. The 'Ventura's' journey is a 14-night round trip from Southampton, with Funchal serving as its first port of call.
Three more ships are expected by the end of September. The previous season, from September 2025 to May 2026, saw 344 calls and over 790,000 passengers and 295,000 crew.
