The Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has placed Madeira's South Coast and mountainous regions under a yellow warning due to forecast rainfall, at times heavy, during the early hours of Sunday, 1 November.
According to the warnings, showers could become heavy and be accompanied by thunderstorms, particularly in the areas covered by the alerts. The warnings take effect at midnight and remain valid until 9 am.
The public is advised to take special care when travelling by road and during outdoor activities, especially in areas most exposed to heavy rain.
