The President of the Regional Government of Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque, anticipates a "tough fight" with the European Commission.
His indignation stems from the Commission's intention to end or drastically reduce specific support for the Outermost Regions, based on their development indices.
Albuquerque argues that this support is essential for Madeira's development. He also confirmed a serious conversation with Lisbon, reopening dialogue channels and suggesting a new stance from the central government towards the region.
