PSD deputy Bina Pereira highlighted figures in the Madeira Legislative Assembly plenary session indicating a significant reduction in the region's poverty risk.
According to the deputy, Madeira was the fourth European region to most reduce its poverty risk rate between 2017 and 2024, dropping from 27.5% to 16.7%. Pereira criticized the opposition, alleging they "sieve reality" and ignore the region's positive growth data.
Bina Pereira stated that the opposition does not publicize these numbers because it "interests them for Madeirans to remain in poverty to carry out this policy of deception." The deputy also emphasized that Madeira was the outermost region that most closely approached its country's data in terms of poverty reduction.
