The president of PSD-Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque, celebrated the island's 50 years of political autonomy at the Chão da Lagoa festival. He recalled the achievement of autonomy and the political struggle for the people of Madeira, highlighting the importance of party members in defending the region.

Albuquerque stressed that PSD-Madeira will continue to fight for further development and against the island's discrimination, demanding a Finance Law that does not harm Madeira and the resolution of pending matters with the Republic, such as healthcare and education costs.

The party leader also directed criticism at the opposition, stating that the PSD defeated socialism and communism and will now "defeat the hysterical populist and whiny populist" in Madeira.
