Madeira's Regional Government President, Miguel Albuquerque, has reiterated his support for a ferry connection between the island and the mainland, but made it clear that this issue is not among the executive's priorities for negotiating the next State Budget.
Faced with a study indicating deficit results in all analyzed scenarios, Albuquerque stated that the operation would only be viable with public funding, recalling that the previous experience was also based on a compensation model.
Albuquerque emphasized that the responsibility for launching the tender and drawing conclusions from the study lies with the Republic's government. He established a clear hierarchy for regional demands, prioritizing 79 million euros for the Cohesion Fund and compensation for the Regional Health Service, before the approval of the new Regional Finance Law.
