Francisco Gomes, vice-president of CHEGA-Madeira, declared that the island's North continues to be neglected in terms of investment, employment, and services, to the detriment of the Funchal-Santa Cruz axis.
During the commemorative ceremony for São Vicente's council anniversary, Gomes advocated for a territorial cohesion policy that ensures equal rights and opportunities for all Madeirans, regardless of their place of residence.
The deputy criticized the regional development model for favoring specific economic interests over the balanced development of Madeira, pointing to a lack of opportunities for young people and persistent issues in health and housing as consequences of this model.
