Miguel Albuquerque, President of the Regional Government of Madeira, has confirmed he will meet with Prime Minister Luís Montenegro in Lisbon next Monday. The meeting is scheduled during his trip to the capital to attend the State Council convened by the President of the Republic.
Key topics for discussion include the security of critical infrastructure, with a specific focus on submarine cables. Albuquerque emphasized their strategic importance, noting that approximately 90% of global data, including financial transactions, travels through these structures, highlighting the need for enhanced monitoring and protection mechanisms.
Regarding the travel reimbursement platform, Albuquerque acknowledged technical issues, particularly with claims exceeding 400 euros, but attributed them to technical rather than political problems. He stated that the matter has been discussed with Minister Pinto Luz, and adjustments are expected to normalize the platform's operation soon.
