António Alberto da Silva Jesus, a Mathematics teacher and a prominent figure associated with the APEL School, passed away on Wednesday, September 23rd, at the age of 83.
The Associação Promotora do Ensino Livre (APEL) announced his passing, highlighting his "dedicated and generous service" to the institution.
Born in Funchal in 1943, António Jesus had a long teaching career, including stints at the Liceu Nacional do Funchal and the Escola Industrial e Comercial do Funchal. After the 1974 revolution, he was part of the Funchal Municipal Chamber's Installing Commission and collaborated with the Regional Government. In 1980, he joined the APEL School, teaching Mathematics until 2004, and also served as Administrative and Financial Director and chaired the Board of Directors.
The funeral will take place today, following a Mass at the Parish Church of São Martinho.
