In August 2026, Madeira recorded air temperatures above the usual across all reference stations, according to IPMA. Porto Santo registered the highest average for an August since 1961, with an anomaly of +1.6 °C.
Precipitation showed an irregular pattern. While Funchal/Observatório and Chão do Areeiro had below-average values, Santana and Porto Santo recorded higher amounts. Prazeres noted a new daily rainfall record.
The preliminary climatological bulletin from IPMA for August 2026 also indicates new temperature maximums, a minimum in Porto Santo, and a maximum in Selvagem Grande.
