Strong Winds Cause Four Flights to be Diverted at Madeira Airport

Adverse weather conditions at Madeira International Airport led to the diversion of four flights on Tuesday afternoon.

Strong winds in the Santa Cruz area forced at least four flights, scheduled to arrive at Madeira International Airport on Tuesday afternoon, to divert.

The Enter Air flight ENT 7009 from Warsaw was redirected to Porto Santo Airport. An EasyJet flight, EJU 6833, bound for Madeira, returned to its origin point in Porto. Ryanair flight FR 398 from Brussels (Charleroi) was also diverted to Sá Carneiro Airport in Porto.

Additionally, EW Discover flight 4Y 702 from Frankfurt faced the same outcome. At least four other flights were waiting for a landing opportunity, with air traffic being affected by strong northerly winds.
