Municipal services in Funchal have finally commenced work to clear and repair the drainage systems on Avenida Zarco, responding to multiple alerts from "Estepilha" dating back to July 22.
The blocked drains were causing foul odors, stagnant water, and mosquito proliferation in the area. The intervention proved more complex than anticipated, requiring excavation of the sidewalk and traditional Portuguese pavement to access the root of the problem.
It is expected that the work will conclude soon, normalizing the situation on the avenue and eliminating the disturbances caused by the lack of maintenance.
