The Bishop of Funchal, D. Nuno Brás, is on a pastoral visit to Venezuela, where he has already visited the Padre Joaquim Ferreira Home, near Caracas, and the areas most affected by an earthquake.
During his stay, which runs from August 11 to 16 at the invitation of the Archbishop of Caracas, D. Raúl Biord, the bishop concelebrated with the Archbishop of Caracas and D. José António, a Portuguese-descendant bishop from Puerto Cabello.
The visit's main objective is to foster closeness, bringing the message of the Gospel of Hope, the solidarity of the Diocese of Funchal, and the affection of Madeirans to Portuguese communities and populations affected by recent earthquakes.
