Câmara de Lobos Mayor Advocates for Increased Municipal Housing Intervention

Celso Bettencourt, the Mayor of Câmara de Lobos, has called for local authorities to take a more active role in tackling housing problems, stating that this responsibility should not fall solely on the Regional Government.

Speaking at the PSD/Madeira Parliamentary Days, Bettencourt highlighted Câmara de Lobos as an example, where 45 housing units are currently under construction, with a goal to deliver 153 new homes by the end of his term.

He also criticized the Santa Cruz executive and the JPP party, refuting claims that municipalities were prevented from accessing PRR funding. Bettencourt asserted that while deadlines were tight, they applied to everyone, and that Câmara de Lobos and other municipalities succeeded due to their preparedness and prior work.
