The municipal executive of Câmara de Lobos has approved a reduction in the municipal share of IRS from 3% to 2.5%, effective for income earned in 2027. This measure, presented by president Celso Bettencourt, is expected to leave an estimated €70,000 more in the pockets of local families.
The proposal, which requires approval from the Municipal Assembly, aims to allow more revenue to remain directly with taxpayers. The municipal share of IRS is the portion of the tax that municipalities can collect from residents.
In the same meeting, the council decided to maintain the IMI (Municipal Property Tax) rate for urban buildings at 0.30%, the legal minimum, and also keep the existing IMI Familiar deductions. The Municipal Right-of-Way Tax will also remain at 0.25% for 2027.
