CDU Member of the European Parliament, João Oliveira, has stated that European funds should respond to the concrete needs of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, rather than being subordinate to the European Union's guidelines.
Oliveira emphasized the importance of using European funds to serve Madeira's economic and social development, thereby improving the living conditions of its population.
The CDU proposes that the next EU multiannual financial framework (2028-2034) be strengthened, granting Madeira better access to funds and the necessary resources to tackle its economic and social challenges. The party also advocates for these funds to support regional productive sectors, job creation, and housing.
