The Municipal Group of CHEGA in Funchal has announced it will request clarifications regarding the lands in Amparo, São Martinho, which have been subject to preventive measures.
This move follows the Regional Government's decision to freeze nearly 30,000 square meters of land, originally intended for future public housing. The regional decision comes after the Funchal Municipal Chamber approved a partial suspension of the Municipal Master Plan in that area.
Maria do Carmo Gomes, leader of CHEGA's municipal group, stated support for public housing construction but criticized the lack of detailed project information, including the number of units, timelines, budget, and execution model. The party aims to obtain details on landowners, estimated acquisition or expropriation costs, and the project schedule, while also questioning the coordination between the Regional Government and the Funchal Municipal Chamber and demanding greater transparency in public fund allocation.
