The CHEGA-Madeira Youth has accused the Regional Government of "compromising the future" of young Madeirans. The organization claims that access to professional and institutional opportunities is conditioned by proximity to political power, rather than merit and qualifications.
Renata Rocha, the structure's coordinator, deemed it "deeply condemnable" that young people feel that "a party card, family name, or a favour" might carry more weight than effort and skills. The organization maintains that this reality contributes to discouragement and the departure of qualified young people from the Region.
Henrique Mota, also a coordinator, argued that "opportunities cannot depend on one's political affiliation." The CHEGA-Madeira Youth also criticized what it described as an "opportunistic" relationship between the Executive and young people, accusing the Government of only paying attention to them during periods of political mobilization.
