Colloquium on the Holocaust and its 'distractions' to be held at Cine Teatro Santo António

A colloquium discussing the Holocaust, covering its past, present, and future, will take place at Cine Teatro Santo António on Friday, September 18.

This coming Friday, September 18, starting at 6:00 PM, the Cine Teatro Santo António will host a colloquium titled ‘Holocaust and (Dis)trac(t)ions: past, present, and future’.

The event will feature several segments. The first part will include talks on the importance of history and memory preservation, writing against the banality of evil, trauma and the link between individual memory and collective heritage, and the relevance of Anne Frank's Diary. Speakers include Professor Dr. Paulo Miguel Fagundes de Freitas Rodrigues, Professor Dr. Anne Martina Emonts, Professor Dr. Alda Portugal, and Professor Dr. Luís Pimenta Lopes.

The second part will be dedicated to interventions from regional associations, such as the Local Support Center for Migrant Integration (CLAIM) and the Center for Madeiran Communities, VENECOM, the African Cultural and Recreational Association of Madeira, and the PRESENÇA FEMININA Association, as well as the general public. Journalist Marta Cília will moderate.
