Independent councilor Jorge Afonso Freitas of the Funchal Municipal Chamber (CMF) believes the upcoming October 1st implementation of the new Legal Regime for Urbanization and Construction (RJUE) should be an opportunity to modernize the Urbanismo Online digital platform.
Freitas argues that the current platform has drawn complaints and that new legislation requires an updated tool to simplify procedures and enhance transparency.
Furthermore, the councilor proposed collaboration between the CMF and the Regional Institute of Mobility and Transport to improve information for tourists using rental vehicles. He suggests rent-a-car companies provide brochures detailing circulation and parking rules to reduce violations and improve road safety.
