Madeira's Socialist Party (PS-M) deputy to the Assembly of the Republic, Emanuel Câmara, strongly criticized the Central Government, alleging that persistent problems with the Territorial Continuity Mechanism demonstrate "incapacity and bad faith." According to Câmara, this situation directly affects Madeirans and compromises a constitutional right.
Câmara also pointed fingers at the Regional Government and PSD-M deputies, stating that if they had acted promptly in defense of Madeira's interests, these constraints would not exist. The socialist accused Luís Montenegro's executive of trying to "whitewash" the already approved law, allowing problems to drag on and complicating residents' lives.
The deputy further highlighted the Regional Government's lack of influence and credibility with the national Executive, despite them being from the same party. For Emanuel Câmara, the current situation exposes a clear failure to resolve issues that have been identified for some time.
